Hopefully you can help me out..

I noticed something odd a few minutes ago. I was checking the referrer logs on a PHPbay site i have and it showed a craigslist post. So i checked it out and sure enough some muppet has a direct link to one of my pages in his CL post. Why would he do this? Anyone clicking on an ebay listing on my site would be credited to me.

Has my page been stuffed? Is that possible? How can I check?

    I guess it's just a n00b?

I mean think about it - compared to the entire population of the internet, then we (the entire BHW community) are not even 1% so the fact some noob may have done this is possible - what was the text, was it salesy?

The only other option is potentially cookie stuffing from a page that directs to the craigs link and THEN goes to your page - but that's a long route for conversion...

how much traffic has it generated to your site and has it made any sales for you? Maybe he got his links mixed up and didnt bother to check them.

Thanks for the input guys. Out of curiosity I replied to the CL ad pretending to be interested and asked was that her site that had all the other baby monitors on it. She replied and said no she was just using that to show the picture, madness, so she was basically sending free visitors to me.

same thing happened to me once. On a site that normally gets ~50 visitors a day, I randomly got 400+. Turns out they came from Craigslist cuz some guy had used some pics on my site as an example for what he was talking about in his CL ad.

I didn't mind the extra traffic. lol :D

(Just thinking out loud.) Hmm. This Craiglist site looks promising. I'll check it out one of these days.
