    Hello,

I never did SEO cause I didnt need till now but have read a lot about.

Now I want to give it a try. The site I want to bring up is the site of my girlfriend. She wants to make money from it and till now it seems she only have customers from forums where she is writing.

I have searched a couple of keywords that seems to suit for her site. The most exact keywords only have monthly searchvolume of 320 and 140. A keyword which has a wider meaning but still targeted has up to 246.000 searches per month.

The most exact keywords in quotes has around 50.000 results in google. The broader keyword around 425.000.

So now I have a list of 14 keywords that I sorted in order of the importance. And now I need to do something with them to rank the site for.

I checked the backlinks for the site. The site has 4 backlinks only on 3 different domains. (The site is 2 years online till now.)

I checked the ranking of the domain for the keywords I searched and not one keyword is ranked. The only one that is ranked is the domainkey which has partly to do with what she does but not enough to explain her business. So she is on place one for this single word. But its not a word which will bring in much customers.

    So something should be done.

I have read that backlinking is by far the more important seo. Onsite-Seo isnt that important. And her site isnt really optimized for keywords. In the content its wrote what she is doing but title and so on doesnt contain the keywords that people would search for.
Onsite-SEO would be a problem as long as I want to rewrite her text. Because she likes the text and dont want to change it. I think when you advice me to do onsite-seo first then I think I have to build some extra-pages on that domain that are keywordoptimized and connected to the maindomain. Maybe embedded in sitemap but not embededded in the menu. Something like that.

Next would be backlinking. I first used the tool that someone shared here on bhw that is helping to create backlinks on a couple of whois-sites. They are only backlinks without a proper connection to the keywords.

Then I tried Free Blog Commenter from BHW. I only found 16 results with all keywords and only 1 is slightly related. So it seems spamming blogs wont be a possibility.

I searched google on my own and only found guestbooks that are closed because of spam and so on.

So it seems to me I have to go other ways.

I dont want to harm her site or hosting.

So what remains to do? Its not a english site so angelas backlinks would have a foreign language and on the other hand i have read that some people say angelas backlinks are oversaturated.

What would you suggest to do? I would like to see that she has enough customers for a living and can raise the prices later. :)

    Greetings!
    Sebastian

Onsite seo is important as google wants content related to the search query. If you want her site to be ranked for those keywords she will have to include them at least once in every post/page. Check the backlinks of competitors sites' see what kind of sites they are getting them from, how many links they are getting, and how varied the links are. Use siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com for backlink checking :)

    @wakkaoaka

Checking competitors backlinks is a good idea. I have read before but why doesnt comes to mind when you need it? :) Dont know...

I think I will try to get her using keywords in her texts. And after that try the competitor spying... I could try to use forums too... I mean at her business are a lot of forums. I have read someone here is changing the signature before a forum is archieved and gets into archiv with a link this way... Something like that...

    @TermsB

I thought of a Linkwheel. But do i really need to get a couple of domains for that? With different hosting for different ips? Isnt there a method to build linkwheels without buying a couple domains for it? Maybe free domains that wont lost his existence? So that the link remains?
I mean theoretically it should be possible to use normal guestbooks to built a linkwheel by referencing them. Or am I wrong? A Solution that doesnt cost much would be fine...

    Greetings!
    Sebastian

write articles with embeded links in them and submit them to various article directories.
also submit her site to article directores
submiit her business to super pages, ask, local, manta, insider pages, citysearch, yelp and so on.

create a google local listing for her business

get backlinks - a little spam never hurt no one haha

Include 2-3 of your Core keywords in the Title tag
Add some Long Tail keywords in your Description Meta tag
Write 2 or 3 500 words articles and put them on your Homepage
Social bookmark your site at Digg and Reddit
Get Plenty of Anchor Texts from external sites.

Now, stop reading and get to work ;)

Make a LinkWheel with sites like HubPages, Squidoo, Ezine... Do a search here, you'll find a lot of LinkWheel threads.
