To be honest, they deserve to get dick rot for this. I'm all for blackhatting my way through things, but never when it comes to messing with patients. As mentioned elsewhere (for my health board at least), nothing is stored on the PCs that get locked, they're stored on a sever instead which should have redundancy backups. Let them wipe the data, its fairly quick to mass deploy Windows 7.
I heard about this on the radio earlier and could only wonder how someone could be such a cunt. People will be massively put out by this, important treatments could be delayed or worse.
You would have to be a total soulless cunt to do something like that.
So it is happening. Can't imagine how life will be 100 years from now when we'll be completely dependent in technology and wire-less data for pretty much everything from food, water, transportation, health, etc. It's scary.
Unfortunately, some people are pure fucking scum and will do anything for money, no matter what the consequences.
Patient data should be stored in a database and not the local computers. Just replacing the hard drive should do the job and cheaper than 230 pounds.
57,000 infections and counting.
9 people paid up so far.
curious to see what this will look like next week.
27 transactions now for a total of 3.1 BTC in a couple days.
They didn't just use one BTC address...
There was another thread about it here earlier.
They showed 2 more addresses that added up to maybe 10 BTC (Can't remember)
Not only there, but the entire world seems to be infected (Germany, Belgium, ...)
Medical facilities are always targets to these. Because they always pay.
Wasn't Germany's railnetwork also a target? (I saw you're from Berlin)
Let's all hope if they are caught, it is not in the UK, where they will be told in a serious voice "they are very naughty boys and don't do it again".
Yep, same attack. It showed this on almost all info panels. As you see, the hackers even translate the whole text in different languages.
Meanwhile in Russia, a 9mm to the back of the head or 25 years in the Gulag.
I imagine they thought they would make a few quid but I doubt they imagined it would spread this big. They have upset governments and they won't let that happen. I am going to guess right now they aren't sleeping too well. They will have made errors and I know the NSA and GCHQ have said before that tracking bitcoins is not impossible now but they haven't had something this big to try it on. I predict the arrests will be coming soon.
