So I have software created, I was thinking of asking for a few people to test it, would that be allowed in the beta testers section before I would create a marketplace thread?

Yes, that is allowed.

Please be mindful of the rules in there when you offer the beta testing as one, which gets ignored more than I ignore my neighbor who complains I mow my lawn too early in the day, is that one cannot collect outside contact information.
