SOCKS, HTTP, transparent & anonymous proxies

Ok, I am not too bright here, but I don't understand all the difference between different kind of proxies form the user stand point (not a techie, so don't through shit at me)

SOCKS and HTTP proxy, transparent and anonymous proxy...

Should one know all the difference while buying or configuring proxies (for Scrapebox and other uses)?

Would appreciate a short education session.
Please talk here like to a 6 years old... :)

HTTP proxy - Mostly used in browsers.

SOCKS - Mostly used by Standalone Applications.

Transparent proxy - They don't hide your IP address. They do provide anyone with your real IP address and do not hide any information about you.

Anonymous proxy - Hide your IP address. Besides that, they do NOT even let anyone know that you are surfing through a proxy server.

hm.. so, why one needs transparent proxy? what is the point using them?

No. SB uses HTTP proxies. Xrumer uses SOCKS, if I remember correctly.

Xrumer can use either Socks or HTTP proxies depending on what you set it to in the settings.
