We all know there are tons of competing software out there for spamming mass accounts and marketing through that. What I want to know is, what are some simple, cost-effective automation tools to help in building a brand on single accounts? The only social media tools I'm using right now are Pinblaster's follow/like/repin automators and addmefast to get accounts started. I was wondering if anyone has some general recommendations for cheap/free tools that are effective for follower churning on other platforms like twitter, tumblr, etc. Really don't feel like dishing out $200 for a piece of software I won't use for maybe more than 5-10 accounts in the foreseeable future.

It's got way more features than I use but I use FollowLiker on one legitimate twitter account just to follow people interested in my niche and then unfollow the ones who don't follow back. I used TweetAdder before that and TweetAttacks before that and they all did pretty much the same thing for me and helped me build my twitter following with people who are tweeting about my niche.

The main thing you want to do is limit following people as much as possible, it's not common for brands to follow any other businesses than those that they are integrated or have relations with. Brand yoursefl well and you will have all the engaging followers you need and people sharing your post. I have my own platform but don't even use it because my users are sharing my posts to their profiles.

If I were you I would follow the big brands and do what they do, the ones with the most social interaction. Eventually if your product or service is good, it will have all the engagement it needs. It is slow but sure process.

If I were you I would build up followers using automation then when you have alll your pages well branded, then stop following people. Use social media syndication to get shares since they are best quality. Then hopefully you wont need to buy anymore tools unless you just want to update your profiles with 1 click.

Believe me you will know you have a following of engaging users when you start seeing 3 people sharing, then doubles to 6, and keeps doubling. That's when you know you have a good service and are well branded, it works.

Building brand is not possible through any software my friend.

You need real human to interact with your fans and followers. Automate or any
    script will not do that.

So try to hire any VA who have grip over social media.
