1. How to check competitor's social media presence & activities

2. Any software / tools to automate scheduled postings to social media?

There are plenty,
A few handful of WP plugins if you're willing to share your posts, FS Poster is one of the best for these

I am referring to competitors who appear top rank in SERP .. we are marketing the same brand of products.
I want to know whether they engage in social media, on top of backlinkings to boost their SEO.
 
You can check your competiter socila media activities and how it's impact against your brand by some of online tools like Rival IQ , Mixpanel and Socialinsider.
 
Use tools like BuzzSumo or Social Blade to see their content and engagement. For scheduling posts, tools like Buffer, Hootsuite, or Later can help you automate and manage posts across different platforms.

Nice share! I believe that social blade is the best tool for analyzing your competitors content and engagement, and that's what I would suggest as well!
