Social Bookmarking

Im trying to figure out exactly how to use this for my sites. I see alot of services and what not on here that say they will add your site to 100+ sites for $xx.xx dollars. I found a page that lists the top 20 social pages.

My question is do I just sign up at the site, and fill out my profile with my site? No I need to participate at the actual site or is just signing up enough? Can anyone briefly explain this?

Social bookmarking, as the name suggests, is saving your favorite webpages/URLs for future reference. The process, simply put,

1. Fill the social site signup form just like any other signup form. It is optional that you fill your profile with all the details.

2. Click the option to bookmark and enter the details of the site that you wish to bookmark (title, description, keywords/tags, blah blah...).

3. Most important, make sure that you set the permission level of your bookmarks as 'public' (almost all sites have this enabled in default). Unless made public, these links will not be crawled by the SE spiders.
