First time I've done something like this actually... I just 301'd a post on my old site to an updated version of that post on a newer website. I didn't want to blast the new site with 600+ social bookmarks though, so I thought I may as well get them to the older post URL and the backlinks should basically pass on correct?

Is that the wrong way to do things when it comes to social bookmarking? Should I just get the 600 social bookmarks for the article on the new website (3-4 months old)?
