I’m struggling w/ a lot of Social Anxiety lately and this pandemic even made this worse.

I’m stressed when going to my lectures and fear being judged by those around me.

I’m sure more people deal with this mental issue and some might even have overcome it.

I used to have that. It slowly 'faded' away when I migrated to another country and found a place where I feel home. Due to the pandemic there are some symptoms again but I just do the things to break through.

Using narcotics for many years. Pretty effective way of masking it, not to great as a long term solution when taking your physical and mental health into account.

If you are going to university most likely nobody will care so you shouldnt be insecure.
I still have a bit of social anxiety but not that much anymore. Practise will make it go away.
Just talk to people and say hi, make some friends, try to be more relaxed and chill because nothing bad will happen.

Practically saying - start doing 1 hour of meditation daily. Trust me on this.

For getting rid of social anxiety, you first have to get rid of anything that stimulates your dopamine receptors, in other words, anything that gives you short-term pleasure. It's a tough process, but the end result is rewarding.

Put yourself in anxiety inducing situations and get used to it.... just keep doing it... day after day... for hours on end.

Your mind will adopt.

For example ask for 10 girls name and number everyday for 10 days straight.... after 2-3 days you won't give a shit, you'll "become more confident" and eventually you'll actually get numbers.

Do it not with the goal of getting the person's number.... just with the goal of paying them a compliment and asking for their number so you can tick it off and move on to the next one until you've done 10.

Do that and report back to us.

Let us know how that goes for you.

I'm staying home :D

Hello, I've dealt with social anxiety a couple of years ago when I was a student at university. I've had lot of responsibilities, deadlines, work and more. Eventually, I learned efficient ways to cope and manage it. My ways of coping were:
- Meditation
-Regular Excercise ( It releases "good-feel" chemicals and boosts mood and overall health)
-Walking in the woods (connecting with nature improves mood and makes you more grounded)
-Listening to your favourite music, reading books
- Having sex is pivotal. Even masturbation is effective but do it in moderation and do not watch porn. Stick to the real world.
- Go out more with friends and talk to women, no matter the situation. This builds confidence.
- Limit alcohol, drink responsibly, and never use drugs. Remember that everyday, drugs are not the answer.
- Find what you are passionate about and improve your skills and you will see your life change fo the better.
- Change your mindset that everyday is better than the previous one.
- Reward yourself after accomplishments and keep going.

Thanks a lot for all the answers!

Do you recommend doing this 1h meditation in one session straight? And how exactly do you meditate, like, what’s your thought process like?

I went for the on-site 10-day Vipassana course twice and I practice the same but it is very hard and it is not for everyone tbh (it was the hardest 10x2 days in my life) but you can look for transcendental meditation or mindfulness meditation steps on YouTube and follow accordingly. All meditation methods will take you the same route of mindfulness.

You can start with focusing on natural breathing - inhale and exhale. Do not force or react, just close your eyes, relax and observe the incoming breath & outgoing breath.

And yes, one hour straight!

Find a girlfriend to keep you relaxed, chill out with her in public.Go out,if you smoke a little drugs won't hurt.

Things like good diet, frequent exercise, quality sleep, meditation, treating any underlying conditions like nutritional deficiencies, etc. can help a bit in some cases but you'd probably benefit most from mental health treatment from a professional :)

Physical Exercise will be much helpful I hope but taking medications is appreciable for social anxiety?
