I've been wondering... how far do you typically have to go before you get G slapped?

I hear a LOT of stories of guys here doing stuff I'd never DARE try and they get away fine. And then I hear of people moaning that they've been delisted from G or Y over something fairly similar.

Where is a guideline for the line? How do you know?

You don't know. It's Google and as you know, they are unpredictable. Getting "G" slapped and deindexed are two different things. You can get a penalty for various things or you can get deindexed completely.

Depending on what you are doing and what type of content you have will determine the risk of you being deindexed/slapped by Google.

One for sure is Trademark infringement... I got a site popped on an exact match .org domain. But it was part of a case study, I learned from it and moved on with the knowledge gained.

Nice way to reword the question, "How do i get my competition deindexed?"

You would have to do some tricky on-page shit, like cloaking or clickjacking to really get hit hard. I've done some crazy external stuff and never got slapped. If that were the case, all of my competitors would be deindexed.

People have been so terrified by Google that they are afraid to do what it takes to succeed. Off-page tactics will never be something that will get you de-indexed. It's that simple. It has to be something that Google KNOWS you have control over.

Just don't over do it. Like the difference between 1000 backlinks to 100,000 backlinks in one sitting. Just be under the radar, if you are doing black hat stuff

Would Google take exception if you did FB clickjacking?

Sounds like something they would frown upon lol... that's a big step from scraping backlinks.

I do not believe that. Just watch what happens if a site gets attacked by a shoot-ton of porno keyword backlinks on over-spammed pages. Wouldn't want it happening to me... and unless G has gotten a LOT smarter I'd guess it could be VERY bad for a young unaged site.
