Well, after reading several terrible reviews about windows 8, I am a bit scared since my new laptop, which will be delivered pretty soon, will be featuring windows 8... sigh

In any case, I wanted to ask, in your opinion which is the best OS to run for WHITE HAT IM purposes.

Windows 7 ultimate was working pretty nicely on my last laptop, soI am considering to either get XP or w7U on the new laptop, any ideas?
    Thanks!

I would get Windows 7, XP doesn't get updated anymore and not a lot of software works with it i've noticed.

Give it a try. It's going to be the standard OS in a few year's time.
Or just get windows 7 ultimate and wait for the next Windows.

    Windows 7.

XP is 32bit and caps out between 3 and 4 gigs of memory. The 64 bit version uses the server kernel and not a whole lot of programs are compatible with xp 64 bit.

IMO Win 7 is still the best, it rarely hangs and it does the job properly. I am exploding my Win 7 with 2 VMs installed for Bots and tools and I have no complains :)

I would stick with W8, because you're going to have to learn/use it eventually, whether in W8 or W9. Much like the transition from 3.1 to 95, I think 8's user interface is here to stay.

Why would you downgrade your OS? Windows 8 works fine. It's nothing like Vista.

It's really not bad to be honest. I just got a new computer and it came with Win8, I really haven't heard a real reason to not like it besides it's hard to maneuver because of all the apps and stuff. There is a app called classic shell that you can download and it basically turns your computer to loo like windows 7.

I like Win8 and I had Win7 before so if that counts for anything. But do what you want.

as I remember people were happy to jump from windows 3.1 to windows 95, there were no complains at all. With windows 8 completely different situation because it sucks.

Give it a week or two, then decide after that. It's gonna be the standard OS pretty soon.

    Leave W8.
Windows XP is completely outdated so it would be very bad decision.

I'm gonna go against the grain and suggest getting Linux. Very efficient, fast and powerful.
