So today I made my first money online...I don't quite feel how I thought I would.

So I've been attempting internet marketing for about 6 years on and off. I dream of doing it whenever I am at work and when I am at home I am annoyed I don't get enough time to try all the different methods I have knocking around in my head.

I've had a few websites, life got in the way, stop start, the story of my career. But I still kept on dreaming.

Recently there was a thread that caught my eye and I thought I could have a crack at it. Well within a few weeks I have made some money.

    £2.46 for one transaction.

Now that I've actually made some money I was expecting to be fucking buzzing.

But I'm not. I feel the same as yesterday, but just slightly different, I can't explain it.

My best guess is that I know that that's just the first step in the marathon.

I've won nothing yet, but I am now in the fucking race lads.

    That's the point man.

You get your first sale and you know it's not much, but now that you have gained a little, you now know that it's also possible to earn A LOT MORE.

All you have to do is scale up and change your techniques, find what works best.

    Good luck op :)

I hope I'm not coming across as disappointed, I'm far from it, I just thought it would feel like a celebration.

Krabtreb got up that morning. He turned on his computer and looked up his account balance. He noticed one new transaction of 2.46 pounds. As he stared at the numbers he was filled with D E T E R M I N A T I O N!

I also have just started making money. Its like a blackhole that sucks you in. I spend most of my day thinking about how to improve, make it easier, and scale it. Luckily I have found a scalable method, even if it is very blackhat.

Don't worry, it just means your head is giving you more goals and standards before you even reach your current goal and standards.
Can't settle for something if you know you can get more !

that's a great start, hope it motivates you and keep you going!
I've been in your situation a long time ago, when there is no sales, no motivation.
Even a small sale can pump up and get me going! The hope is there!

Yeah mate. TBH, you're probably not celebrating because you didn't make a 3 or 4 figure sale off one transaction. Even a 2 figure sale.

You have to get your mind out of "getting rich quick" and making these large sale transactions. So, don't get down because you didn't make enough money to pop bottles of champagne in the club. You actually got something better. You found a method that works.

    Here is what you do:

    1) Step back - analyze the data
    2) Design new methods (or tweak existing methods)
    3) Implement
    4) Build (keep building)
    5) Bank

Ask any millionaire what the hardest part of becoming a millionaire is and they'll tell you it was making their first million that was the hardest. Once you have your first million, you just keep growing it. We'll scale down a bit in this example but the concepts are the same.

It's finally hit you. All your efforts put towards online marketing, and you've made your first few dollars.

You've made change. You're $2 richer than yesterday. And now you're thinking of all the different possibilities.

I now know I can make money online, I've cleared the mental hurdle.
Now how much of it am I going to make?"
    WIll I become a millionaire?
Will having more money change me?
Am I going to become one of those rich snobs now?

It's the change aspect that buzz-killing you, so to speak. Change fucks us all, we don't like change as humans, we get comfortable where we are.

Even if its a good change, its change, and it will do some fucking weird things to your mind & body.

Just remember why you're doing this and you'll be good.

    Congrats btw

I wouldn't feel amazing if that's all I earned after 6 years either. However, take it as sign that there is still money to be made online. Whether you feel exhilarated or not, at least now you know it's possible.

I imagine that 6 years on and off actually means mainly off if you have just made £2.46 in that time.
Not knocking you, just stating that if you really want to make money online then you really need to work at it.
You have proven to yourself it works, now get dedicated and set aside at least an hour a day to IM.
    Good Luck

Don't celebrate take it as a kick up the arse - you know there is money to be made now so notch it up a gear - take more time to work on your projects, sacrifice something else to make the time. Put double or triple the effort in for the next 3 months and see what results you get.

I started with blogging and ads almost a year ago, and I can still remember those days of being like "yeah!I made a penny today! Now for 10 cents!!" Then it was 20, then 40, 60, 85, etc. right now I usually hover around the 1.20 to 1.50 a day mark.

Maybe it was because it was such a small amount after years of seeing all these people claiming to make 5 times what you make in a day just doing nothing, or maybe it was cause you're not seeing the progress yet. It was just $2 out of the blue, but maybe sometime next week you'll see a $4 order, or 3 $2 orders, when things start to grow and expand that's when the real excitement comes. You just always have to be putting some work in and putting the effort in for that growth. Eventually you reach the point where you can get some "beer money" or "bill money" and feel some benefits of your hard work, eventually working your way up to having some financial stability, and with time, effort, persistence, and a fair amount of luck you may even reach that "can quit my job" level.

I would just like to thank everyone for their words of encouragement.

In the last week I've actually used this whole forum properly rather than just reading the making money section. Shout out to @shezboy for that tip.

I have my scaling plan in place and it is quite simple; unlike before where I've went too big too quick and then had too much to fret about getting done and ended up not achieving much.

    I'm ready this time round.
