If they find out about it, then can just take it away anytime and I'm out my cash? Right?

I'm pretty sure this is how it goes, I am looking to clarify.

They can take it if they trademarked the name before you purchased it(I assume we are talking about domains) under cyber squatting laws.

yes you lose your money, the terms of service you agree to when you register a domain name explain all this.

Ok, I figured. Now If I have one that is only 4 letters

Example: OSCO

Can they take that it?

Thanks for the quick reply;)

I see, I just bought them out of excitement from being avaiable, and I started to "think" about it after I bought it.

I haven't been charged yet, which is odd. I can still cancel my account.

I would say your okay. The probability that they want the domain name is not much. I don't hear a lot of story where company took a domain from a normal user.

I figured the only way they would take it is if I put up a site, or tried to trick people, which I'm not. I was going to see if the company was interested in purchasing it, but I figured If I told them, they would take it.

I can't type the name because I'll trigger the system but it pertains to a certain supermarket. Hahaha

They can take the name if they can prove that you bought it with malicious intent, i.e. to piggy back on their name, hold it hostage, or slam their company. With that in mind it costs approximately $1500 for them to take you to court, so it has to be worth it for them.

I purchased some domains that had MSN in them when I first started. I thought I was the shit dude, well 2 days after I parked it Microsoft sent a cease and desist letter to the company I parked it with. Needless to say, the company shut the page down. My point is that this company may not want your domain, but at the same time they may not want you to use it either. My .02 is to stay away from this kind of stuff, go for keywords that dont contain trademarked names ;)
