So..I downloaded an ebook about the google trends method from this forum...
It all seemed pretty easy...
I looked at a good upcoming search terms from google trends... "Corona fire and Yorba Linda fire" (this was 12 hours ago)
I found a good article about it.... rewrote it and setup a new blogspot blog with
the main keywords as the name of the blog...
I put some adsense as well...not properly set...I just wanted to guage the traffic coz this was my first try.
I setup the tags for the article using the main terms "corona fire" and "Yorba linda fire" and other related ones.

The guide then tells you to digg the article....I wrote an eyecatching headline and dugg the article...as well as 7 other social bookmarking services such as stumbleupon and delicious.

Now for the kicker!.... I recieved absoulutely no traffic!...NONE at all!

What did I do wrong?

The key here is 12 hours ago and blogger . Blogger is not as good as it use to be.

Try hubpages they are good for getting in the serps fast also squidoo . I have seen videos of people getting in the serps in 4 or 5 hours with hubpages .

Another thing Propeller will help as well use it on your hubpage . Not exactly sure of any of it but watched it on a video and heard others talk about this method .

because the ebooks people just want to make money from the selling ebooks. If they made that much money they would not want to write ebooks about it.

No..I meant...I did it 12 hours ago..... but i just checked a few mins ago that I got absolutely no traffic.

This was actually first shared here by Pofecker.... The ebook simply was more detailed in terms of setting everything up...

What is everyone's opinion...on twisting the method...
Heres what I will try next..
I will start a new blog..something about breaking news or stuff like that...
Will keep posting new articles which are along the lines of google trends or any other articles for that matter...
Build backlinks to it from my other blogs....maybe even get a pr or something...
Would this work?
As in...after the blog is indexed and has many backlinks... wouldn't a new post get indexed fast and be on top of the google trends list?

I use wordpress for my blogs and when I digg one of my own articles it stays on the front page of google (depending on the keywords) within just a few minutes. I use WP hosted on my own server.

I then use socialmarker dot com to bookmark it with a few more sites.

Usually the stories don't get "re-dugg" but it doesn't really matter. In terms of SEO rankings, if you use long tail keywords in your blog and then bookmark (or digg) the articles, etc... long term they are going to rank very high in the search engine rankings whether or not you get bumped out by a higher ranking site.

I've had page one articles for certain keywords stay there for a very long time. I think the key with blogging is to have a WP blog, that you work on daily (at least add one or two articles per day for something) and use long tail keywords with the bookmarking method described above.

You can be on first page of google within just a handful of minutes this way.

The articles could stay on first page depending on competition forever. But, another thing is when a new product comes out, you want to be the very first person to write a review (using wordpress) because it gives you a higher rank because you were the earliest article about the product.

Which means, even if other people write reviews, etc... normally if you're the first one, your page stays on front page using this method.

Thanks.

Yes..I use the longtail method...but that is for my other blogs...
I want to do the google trends method... If it can work like everyone says...Theres many ways to monetize than just adsense...
Maybe the key would be to find a term in google trends... that no one has dugg yet?
To be the first..like you say...

@davioli : hey man, this is what exactly my own results are, aswell. zero visitors. It seems that is not as easy as I thought in the beginning but nothing is actually! As I posted in this thread, I don't see how my blog can rank higher than the rest of the news sites which most of them have huge authority.

Maybe using less popular news or something ? I dont really know but I am slowly working on it.

I tried the same method yesterday. Took Yorba Linda fire, made blogger blog, put some adsense on and digg it. I got around 20UV and I guess they all came from digg since I didn't promote it anywhere else. Nobody clicked on adsense though, so no earnings. But I put it together real quick and didn't optimize it.

There was alot on digg about this fire already, so you probably need to come up with some hot trend that isn't so popular already. Will try later today with some more blogs and see how it goes :).

Hey,

I tried this method yesterday with "in your eyes lyrics" - was number 1 on Google trends.

Posted to Digg, Reddit, Stumbleupon and also one music forum.

Got 2 visits and no adsense earnings (surprise).:D

Thinking that it might a question of getting the site up faster and doing more on the marketing. Compress the time and also maybe look for the upcoming trends and not those that have topped out to volcanic 2 hours ago.

Also, read the newspapers.

Will try another tommorrow. Let you know.

Ok..I was away for 2 hours thinking......
Here's what I have come up with....(I will try it starting tomorrow..)
1) Establish a standard blog... not at all niche based... but build up the stats over time..
get some traffic to it... maybe post articles on funny stuff...weird news and stuff... Use normal traffic sources like digg et al...
2) Link to blog from all your other sites...to increase PR(experience tells me high pr blogs get their new posts indexed very fast)
3) Once blog is established ...use it for google trends... but stay away from "breaking news" focus more on general stuff such as how @Rudyvise did with "in your eyes lyrics"

I believe ...that an established blog will rank higher in google trends coz its "authority"

As for social bookmarking.... from what ive studied over these two days... atleast 10 diggs are necessary to get decent traffic... so I will try and keep adding digg friends..and even get other people to digg articles for me....

What are your thoughts guys....please keep it "google trends" specific!

I already started a blog like this thinking maybe it was a good idea to slowly build it's authority (always through rewriting news posts). However on a second thought if it's a single blog, it takes one mistake to blow everything up. Personally I would prefer a method which can be duplicated and have less success ratio. This way whatever happens you don't care as those would be disposable blogs. Get in do your thing, get out :D

well..yeah... but then if you already have an existing blog network...and a few sources of ready backlinks...it isnt hard to "establish" a blog per se....
Anything that you put your effort into... and do better than others...would always work in the long run.
I mean...you write about a google trend keyword... you would "i assume" dominate the rankings if you post from an established blog.

Anyways.... it is still enticing if there is actually a way to rank in google trends with a new blog.... so I am going to investigate all new blogs i find there...and see how they are doing it....ill post any results or "findings"

I was thinking that the Google trends plan was really just a throw away blog kind of thing, where you have a small window to hit and make your money and then after that - you will see your income reduce as the appeal of the key term reduces.

I'm sure the idea is to hit the window of volcanic traffic at the right time and maximise your income on that blog at that time.

So, you spend say 30 mins creating a blog, 1 hour say Digg'ing and S*lashdotting and stuff and then you see the traffic ramp up because of your chosen key term buzz at that time.

That is really how i have been approaching it. As opposed to developing this thing to rank high in Serps and develop a blog that is valuable over the mid-long term.

I also did this 4 days ago and got 10 visitors... :D
But it was on a article directory script and it have rss feeds... This site is some 6+ months old... I then fired my blogblaster. nah... nothing...

There is something we are all missing... I think it is a simple thing.. If we get that we will be in fire...:D

I think the first problem is you're setting up a brand new blog and wanting instant results.

It's much better if you have a general news blog set up first. Then you need to use the exact keyword phrase that people are searching for in the title as an H1 tag and repeat the phrase in the first sentence in bold. Also make sure you've got an eye catching photo at the top of the post and shift it left or right so the text wraps around it.

I've used this technique to get to the top of search results many, many times and its a great tactic if done right.

@Rudy...I think I get your point...
The key would be to maximize potential of social bookmarking by using "hot" terms of that particular time...(hot terms from google trends)
So... One would have to have sufficient adds/friends at all prominent social networks... or even use proxies and different accounts...to get diggs...stumbles... etc...
(ok...im throwing my established blog idea out the window for now!)

@Subject... yes... there is something were missing.... find out what the top ranking blogspot blogs for google trends are doing...

@Bama... can you elaborate what you mean by "done right"

@davioli : Yes but the target (in my opinion) is the organic traffic from google and not from the boomarking sites. We all know digg and other SB traffic (not all) is not clicking on any ads. However, if digg and other help you in SERPS then is good!

On the other point: Exactly!!! We need to find out why the other newly created blogspot (and other) blogs rank high. What do they do differently?

edit: spelling
