I'm fairly new to SEO, and I want to build traffic for my "Clients" site, and I really dont know where to start, its a wordpress site and Im already runnng adwords / analytics which I think is a start, Is there something else I could do outside of sinking money into facebook ads and adwords. From my understanding you can increase the keyword rankings manually, but Ive yet to learn how to do that.

Sorry for the naivety of this post, I just have no Idea where to start!

    Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the question, but why you're getting customers when you don't know what to do?

Why do you take clients when you don't have proper knowledge about it?
This is not only stupid but you also can harm your clients websites.

Got to agree with this. Learn the ins and outs of seo and linkbuilding etc, before starting work for any clients.

The search button is your friend :)

You don't have a client? You said you landed a job.

It's not a good idea to take a client unprepared.
It's not a good idea on this forum to ask for basic advice when posing as someone who's operational.

Create content, create a social media presence and hope that you can generate results. I wish you and your 'client' good luck!

Not gonna hammer you like some of the other peeps have done.

You are gonna have to drop some cash in the BST section. If you got paid to bring traffic, use some of that to pay for the traffic getting.

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but do a Press Release, make sure you get or buy a good article. By some back-links Do some searching and you will see several other options. Doing this only once will be a short term gain, and you will see a brief increase in traffic. Not sure what you are selling if anything, so the traffic will most likely be generic. You will have to drill down to get targeted traffic to see any gains in mula from the traffic.

    YMMV

Legititmate traffic? If that was an easy problem to solve, then he wouldn't be paying you.

It seems like you have already got your paid traffic going. If your PPC works, this should bring you enough traffic to start with.

If you want organic traffic, then you gotta be prepared to work hard.

Generally speaking, Great, Unique Content is what you are going to work at.

Seek out Web 2.0 sites with do fol low links like Squidoo or HubPages, you should be able to find a good list here on this forum. Then start dropping contens to these platforms one by one.

Once your website aged a bit, you could then do massive backlink building via various backlinking strategies like videos, press releases, gov and edu links and the list goes on.

Best of luck to your work.
