Yep waited in line, and bought a bunch at retail with no contract. Now I need to figure out how to unlock them or any other way to monetize these babies. Anybody here have any idea? I got both 16g and 32g.

Once they're unlocked, I'll be bringing in some bacon but I don't think they've found a way to jailbreak it yet. I need to think of an out of the box idea to monetize other than selling them on Ebay or locally. Lets brainstorm guys!

P.S. I was looking on Amazon and I don't understand why there aren't any listed on there. Not even the old 3G ones. Why is this?

Ye I would be pretty annoyed if I dropped $10k on phones that I couldn't unlock haha.

Not saying you won't unlock them, but good luck (i'd give hints if I knew anything about unlockings).

You could always try selling on DP and say they are a guaranteed investment.

Great enthusiasm and nice way of thinking outside of the box but I think your thought process is a little backwards (no criticism). You should have had all of this worked out before you plucked down 10k. At least that's what I would have done. What will you do if they can't be unlocked right away; for example 3-4 months?

Since you don't have it all figured out yet, it might be a while before you see a return on your money but hopefully someone will come with some good suggestions for you.

Offer someone a free phone if they can tell you how to unlock it. Plain, simple, effective.

The only reason you wouldn't want to sell locally is if their hot...Ok so maybe go out of town and rent a kiosk...post ad on kijii, or alibaba and try to sell. Maybe even craigs under another city. I dont know man, but, sell them locked. Let somebody who knows how to unlock worry about how to unlock them. Someone told me they was selling their phones locked and the person would just buy them and unlock themselves.

bah.....if there's no solution. I can always return them, I have 30 days. I knew that I was gonna get my money back and I was in the mall and already waited in line, so no point in walking home empty handed.

I don't think they have a way to jailbreak them yet. Not sure how those guys are able to sell them unlocked on Ebay and such other places.

    Anymore suggestion?

Nobody has unlocked the 3GS yet :3 I would personally hold out man, sit on those phones for a minute, there will be an unlock soon. If you need to drop some to make ends meet, try CL or ebay

    ^pizzafasie has it right.

Yeah, that's what I'm planning now. If I'm short on cash, I can always go back to the store and return them or sell off craig or Ebay.

Maybe, I could do something like post on Youtube with, what would you do for an Iphone contest and drive the traffic/competition to a website where I have a gateway script set up with surveys from ************** or some other cpa offers or ring tones offers. Any thought on this? this could require a bit of work but it would be viral. Tell them to tell their friends to come vote for their "what would you do for an iphone video" the top voting video gets an Iphone.

Yeah. I have the iphone 3g and they havent released a 3GS jailbreak or unlock yet. iPhone 3G can use redsnow to jailbreak but the unlocking software, ultrasnow, isnt released yet. When the unlocking software is released for the 3G or 3GS it will mostly likely available through Cydia. Like the other guy said, just wait for the jailbreak from the Dev Team.

How about you send me one and I'll try to unlock it ;)

But really, didn't it take a couple of weeks for the 3g to be jailbroken? They have to find explotable bugs in the software that comes with it, its a long process that takes alot of luck...

The reason why it isn't jailbreaked yet is because the 3GS uses different hardware than the 3G. So basically they have to start from scratch to jailbreak it, which is going to take a couple of weeks.

    Well, what I would do.......

Take them back and get your money back for them. And use that money to buy the a whole load more of the old Iphones because they are reduced to only $99

Now, go around selling them to people for like $150 etc. As most people dont know they have been reduced to that cheap. So they think they are getting a bargin and your making $50 :D
