    Hey everyone.

Been lurking here for some time.

I am trying to find a niche I can make a website for.
Something that I can invest in myself and work on because I like it.

I just cant figure out what to do.

Ive been looking for a week, thought of just buying a site from one of the sellers here..
But nothing makes sense to me yet.

I am totally green when it comes to SEO and running a website alone.

The way I want to make money is via Adsense.
I love gaming and tech.. But it just seems overrun to me.

I am not asking for someone to spoon feed me a niche..

I am asking, what are you doing to find a new niche.
(Or what did you do when you were looking for one?)

    Do you like gaming?
Will you be able to write 3 hours per day for the next 365 days?
If the answer is yes then you should start right now.
Just write and make good stuff so that people want to read it.
Don't be consumed with garbage articles just for SEO purpose.

There are some great guides which you will find here on BHW. One I remember vividly is one written by Hekke. Pretty damn good.

If you're not sure about niches and keywords I'd recommend you pay someone to do the research for you the 1st time. The reason is if you pick the wrong keywords/niche, everything you do after that will be a waste of your time and effort.

That's what I did when I was starting out. Infact I still outsource my keyword/niche research so that I don't get into anything too competitive or anything that won't make me money. lol

PS- You've posted this in the wrong section

EDIT - People saying do what you're passionate about. Nothing wrong with that. Just make sure that you add value to other peoples lives with your passion. That's how you'll make money.

Find the niche within your niche. So you like tech. Narrow that down. What kind of tech? Phones? Video games? Electric toenail clippers?

Now narrow it down further. What kind of phones? What kind of video games? HTC? Shooters? RPGs? JRPGs?

    Voila. There's your niche.

Do gaming and tech. have faith in yourself.

when I first started I dove into a very high competition niche and made $20k from it, mostly passive income, all work done up front.

So "DIVE IN" to what you really want to do.

After you dive in to the first pool, don't consider the other pools. Just enjoy the first pool and experiment with it.

go for a walk and get away from your computer. maybe go see a new movie or something. go for a drive to a beach if you have transport. sit some where quiet and think about what you would love to write about each day. don't worry about what others are doing, just do it your way.... good luck

You have to start somewhere and you will last longer if you like what you are doing, so it should be something that you like. Gaming and tech are quite broad, so your first attempt could be something in a sub-niche of those, something narrower where you have a larger chance of standing out because of the lower competition. Start by keyword research. Keep in mind that you need to put effort for a relatively long time and not give up and you might get to a point where you would have started a few sites that are not earning - you should keep plugging away if that happens and try to understand what you're doing wrong.

Right! but narrow it even further
focus on one game that has a longer lifespan and following
preferably a new upcoming one that has a good budget behind it
or even narrow further and just deal with the hacks/cheats/walkthroughs/videos etc of said game
if you are just going at this alone or with limited funds in comparison to the large sites then you do not want to compete against the big boys but be ultra niche instead
