Them: Hello, my name is ____ from SEO _____ and the reason I'm calling is to inform you of a canonical name error on your website.
Me: Okay, what is that error.
Them: Sir, you have 3 versions of your home page, causing your page rank to be split into thirds.
    Me: Explain further.
Them: See, you have your main domain, a file called index.html and a file called index.htm all sharing your main page rank.
Me: The main domain, by itself, simply loads the index.html file. And index.htm auto-forwards to index.html.
Them: I disagree sir. I do this for a living and Google sees them all as three unique pages. You have split your site's power into thirds.
Me: Okay, let me check....okay, when I enter the domain itself, or go to the index.htm, or index.html, they all have the same page rank and the exact same backlink count. Looks like the search engines see them all as the same page.
Them: Long pause. Hmm. You must have configured something on the back end. Can I explain to you the many on-page errors you have that are keeping you off Google's first page?
Me: I'm already on page 1 for the keywords I want. You're pretending to be my friend so you can dump some overpriced SEO services on me once I trust you.
Them: Oh no sir. We don't "dump" services on our customers. We've helped thousands of small businesses just like you. Our customers love us.
Me: No they don't. You're taking advantage of their ignorance by throwing around terms like "canonical errors" and "on-page optimization." They pay you thousands for on page adjustments that take five minutes then go to sleep for the rest of their "service contract" as they get no results. You're stealing money from hard working people and they don't trust any Internet marketing company once they've been burned by you. You're fucking the whole thing up...
Them: This conversation is over. I don't appreciate your condescending accusations. You know NOTHING about what you're talking about. Goodbye.
Me: Have a great day in the boiler room.

I don't even get why they would say that. Obviously they aren't selling anything to you, they should just quickly hang up as soon as they feel the lead is dead and move to the next call. Why risk any further embarrassment?

I get emails from so called SEO consultants who have never taken one look at the sites
    they are talking about.
I hate them giving SEOs a bad name.

    made my day :)

I also love those who blast with comments about seo services and that the site needs improvements to rank, even to those ranked 1st .

I get so many bullshit emails from SEO "consultants" it's sick. Most of the time though I don't bother spamming them, I just delete them as I know that it could easily be someone from here and I'm kind enough to not want to get their mailing service shitlisted. Especially if it's Aweber, man you get like 5 people put your message into spam and all hell breaks loose.

There is a difference between ranking for "Buy Jeans" and "Buy Blue Denim Jeans Online Cheap", and that is the reason that legitimate SEO companies charge a lot of money for their services to large businesses.

I have been working on certain keyword terms for months and only just ranking in position 50-60. I guarantee you the people on page one for these keywords make $10,000 to $20,000/month doing VERY little work.

That is the difference. But these people doing the cold calling are not those SEO companies, but they are piggy backing off the results of legitimate, professional SEO companies who actually EARN their $2,000/month fee.

This is why I don't like people sharing so much information on forums such as BHW. Retards that don't know shit come by read some methods, they do everything the wrong way, make a few bucks and fuck up everything for us. Businesses lose their trust because idiots promise them everything and they don't deliver because they don't know what they are doing.

One of the reason I hate SEO, and all the terms around it is because of companies like them who give it a bad image.

That's one of their main tactics.

They place someone on page 1 for "Buy blue denim jeans online cheap in the United States" and say "see, I told you we can get you on page 1."

Customer has no idea that it's a useless kw and keep writing checks.

The other scam is doing "on-page seo" reports that show all these minor errors that mean nothing to rankings. They fix them for like $500 as a "set up" fee.

I think half of the slimy mortgage brokers that went bust in 2007 are now selling SEO services.

Excellent closing on that! Had several automated calls from companies asking me why I am not on first page? Damn automated calls! I then called that company and proceeded to tell them that I can guarantee rankings within 5 minutes and then they hung up. To figure...

Congrats on bumping a 3 year old thread. I wonder how you found it in the first place.
