SMS or Voice Call? Best Way to Verify Online?

Does IG do SMS text verification or do they actually call the number you verify with?

What's the best SIM-based non-VOIP service someone can use online to verify their account with, and preferably keep access to that number for some time in case they are prompted to re-verify?

It was SMS text verification, last I checked. Unless they added an option to choose calling instead. That said, I'm certain they send sms for the authentication though.
Now, I'm not too sure about the absolute "best" option for sim-based non-VOIP but generally, you'll want one that works for the most people. Several factors can affect how you may view what the best is for you but statistically speaking, going for one that works for the most is a good start as any.
