    Hi,

analysing a competitors backlinks profile i noticed this website: ginkotea.be and this cosfryslan.nl and a whole lot more that are the same.

Its a small version of dmoz. I noticed that my competitor is using alot of these small directorys and each directory is having a good backlink profile. This small directorys are also linking to a huge amount of authority websites like youtube and wikipedia. Thats a smart thing to do.

I know its not his own network but from an seo company (managed to trace them).

What i'm aiming at is that building this small directorys with expired domains seems alot easier then building a private blog network because you dont nead content.

So my question is: could it realy be that simpel ? ( note that i'm not in a highly competitive niche)

It's not that easy. If you can see proof that those directories are the reason for their current rank (or whatever you're analyzing) then it means they are viewed by G as high quality directories. You can't just buy up expired domains and link them and expect it to give you a similar result. Nowadays a directory usually has to prove its worth for quite a while before the links gain any significant amount of authority.

Expired domains are a great way to create a small network, but it costs depending on sites and their potential.

But still, a lot of people are doing it and its a good strategy.
