    Just a point really.
A good measure of activity over the year (and July/August are normally very low activity) might be the amount of new posts on the various BHW forums.
The BH Tools forum that is normally spilling over onto a second page with new post sand threads for the day by this time on a Saturday today has had 12 new posts in over 9 hours. 2 of them by me (6:54 am GMT to 16:12 GMT)

In May of this year, that number was well over 50. If memory serves me right it was the same thing this time last year more or less.

    Why mention this?

Because IM is a business like any other, and seasonality in the marketplace is quite a lrge factor in many people's life. They need to plan for it financially - maybe just decide to take a holiday - whatever. But I rarely see it mentioned and for many relying on a steady income stream, knowledge like this is important. It gives you time to plan and smooth out the peaks and troughs in takings and profit over the year.

Good point. Saw drop in traffic (and everything that goes with it) in July and it's continuing into this month. Bummer but that's happened to me in years past, too. I was just making 300 percent more so it didn't hurt as much.

But as Winston Churchill said, "Never, never, never quit".

If I recall correctly Scritty, I believe you have a few sites in the travel niche ? Maybe not the worst time of the year for you so !

Yeah I remember when I began making money on the web few years ago, we called this in adult forums "summer slowdown" so many people on vacation and now even watching olympics also.. but it will start rollin again in September and now is the best time to prepare for it.

Yeah - I open top transport, travel etc.

When I got rid of (or Google destroyed) my adsense network I started a couple of sites, first year both were hit HARD with seasonality issues . July and August people go on holiday - they don't book them. Takings were literally down 60%.
The following year I added websites I thought would have the opposite if any seasonality - and while July and August still SUCK they are a lot better than they used to be.

My sweetspot - the absolute NUTS is the weekend after Black Friday (last payday b4 Christmas) I was taking in 2-3 days what I took in a month in July/August.
The swings really are that extreme some time.

    Question:

Do you do content locking (in your forums) and if so - what is going on with Oron? I know it's been taken down. Last year CLocking made me a tidy sum and ORON were the best payout there was. What's going on in that industry now that Oron is gone?
