    Hello everyone,

I have been a long time lurker here and have stumbled upon this idea of internet marketing by accident.
I always thought that these useless internet pages that i run into time to time were a complete waste of time and wondered why anyone would actually make pages like that.

But after lurking for a long time, I understand what the concepts are for these sites to exist and the strategy of getting hits/sales.

    How I stumbled into IM?
3 years ago, I posted a crappy youtube video. I clicked the monetize video option (money? sure why not?). Obviously I had no knowledge of IM or marketing, linkbacks, etc. No hits for a while and i promptly forgot about it. Fast forward 2 years. O_O to my surprise, i had over 200000 hits on my video (surely not a big number by internet standards, but it was my first video), and over $200 in my adsense account (it did not cash out due to not completing the registration process). What do you know? I can make money from this.

Since this actually gave me some money, I tried to make more videos. This was super time consuming and posted over 200 new original videos over a years time. It was pretty sad to see all that effort and only make $10 a month average through adsense.

Now lurking Blackhatforums figuring out what I am doing wrong or how to accelerate the process.
And now posting my first Journey.

    Limitations:
Less than 1 hour of work a day. This is due to having a full time job, wife and young children.
Completely Whitehat, Zero Risk strategies. That means all my own pictures/videos/written articles.

    Budget:
    estimated $50 a year.

    Goal:
$100 a month using Adsense, Amazon affiliates, and Ebay Affiliates. A small goal but doing whitehat is a lot of work and time consuming. As I found in my youtube experiences.

    Completion date:
ongoing whitehat site with low maintenance. So make enough money to reinvest into renewing internet services before they expire.

    Strategy:
Microniche website with all original content with adsense ads and amazon and ebay affiliate links.

    Done So Far:
Found a keyword that has fairly low competition. Other websites found using keywords are completely out of date (not updated) or not comprehensive. Although not really a sales keyword, this is the best I can find with no budget and over 15000 hits a month using google keyword tool.

Found a non registered domain name that is not an exact match but not bad.

Finding more information about the subject and writing short articles. Completely original articles taking a long time to write.

    To Do:
    Complete the basic articles.
    Buy a domain
    Buy hosting
    Create/Buy webpage
    Customize the theme
    Upload the articles
Get adsense approval, Ebay and Amazon approval to run ads.
Get whitehat linkbacks through forums, facebook, twitter etc.
    Advertise using adwords.

On going activities to after initial setup:
product reviews of new products that come out.
    youtube videos of written articles

I think $100 is less amount for earning in a month.
I can earn more by just giving more time. I think you are working too slowly.

Time is something I don't have. I have attempted 3 hours of sleep per night so i can get 3 hours of extra work done a day, but that was not sustainable. I was basically dead at work and with my family.I have another idea for another youtube site, but without the time to edit these things, this will sit on the backburner.Hosting, i am looking at either networkpanda or asurahosting at less than $10 a year. When the website is getting more traffic I will consider moving to a higher cost host.Status:not hosted yet$0 spent

This weekend, I bought a domain name from internet.bs and hosting from asurahosting.
I linked my domain name with hosting without any issues. Installed wordpress 3 times trying to figure out what the hell I am doing.

The wordpress themes are awful, as they mostly cater to blogs. I am attempting to make a mostly static information pages, and these themes are pretty bad. And the corporate themed ones are pretty awful as conveying information (usually large splash screens, and graphical block of information/links)

If there are any good themes that can be easily monetized, and dropdown menus that are recommended. Should I just use a wiki instead of Wordpress?

Money is spent, time to get rolling.

    Domain Name: $10/Year
    Hosting: $10/year

    Status:
    Spent: $20

I haven't made a cent yet so far, so any of my current methods are unproven. I just used google keyword tool, look for the one with high searches and low competition. Then do some related search in google, bing, yahoo search engines to see what pops up automatically in the auto fill to get some long tail keywords of popular searches.

That is all I did, it may or may not be enough.

Didn't have a lot of time to work on articles. But my Adsense was approved. yay.
The website does seem pretty slow though even though i have no pictures and using a default theme. Even making pages and editing them is really slow.

The Google pagespeed insights says it is SLOW, and the response time of the server is 2.8 seconds, which gives it a score of 50/100 for speed. :(

Good luck with your journey, if you are concerned with your website's loading time you can check it from multiple places around the world with a speed testing service, just search for one on google.

Why the low budget of $50/year? I mean with your limited available time, even a little more money spent would speed up things significantly.

You know that negativity that float around me (people saying don't waste your time/money, get a 2nd job and work 16 hour days, taking care of the kids for 6 hours a day is not enough, complaints about everything and how i am totally useless, etc. etc.). It is constant and daily. I try to ignore it.

Once income starts coming in and proven, then the expenses will get bigger. I just gotta prove I can do it.

    Anyways,
I have tested the webhosting, and the server processing is basically underpowered, especially for shared hosting. Serving basic html is fast, running Wordpress is slow as hell 4-8 seconds load, with adsense it is even slower. 3 seconds just to get a response from the server.

Tested drupal and joomla, and those load twice as fast as wordpress. at less than 1.7-3 seconds.

Anywhoo choice of platform is 2ndary as the articles should come first.
Maybe I should just use Microsoft FrontPage to make Html files.
    (Frontpage.... i feel old....)

Terminated Account with Asurahosting. Great support but servers were way too slow. Got my refund without any issues.

Signed up with Network Panda. Cheaper price more space.
Initial test show a huge improvement in performance, but I haven't set up everything yet. But even navigating the gui is a huge noticeable improvement.
