Hi someone offered me a pagerank 5 domain. I checked the whois and it says it was registered 3 days ago.

I know its a fake pagerank, but I thought pagerank updates every 3 months.

How is it possible to register a domain and fake a pr within 3 days?

It shows up as pagerank 5 in the toolbar and google data centers.


Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Im pretty sure, but im confused now. It says it was registered on July 5 on every whois.
But google has it in its cache and retrieve on July 3. Maybe it was re registered or something?

I also seen three or four other domains with a pr5 and registered this week
 
maybe it;s just a dropped domain, somone had it and let it go, and this guy registered it again ;)
 
The page is PR-unranked again. I thought this trick had been fixed, but I guess not. What you do is run a 302 redirect (page has permanently moved) and point to a site that's got a PR.

Google will now treat you as the old site and your PR will bump up accordingly. Once you remove the redirect Google will re-evaluate your PR, so there's absolutely no ranking value to be had from it. But it does work to scam people out of cash if they don't know any better.

A simple PHP script is all you need.
