    Hey,

I have been trying to transfer one of my recently acquired website to hostgator. Have been on hostgator chat on numerous occasions but those guys don't provide specific answers, they just give links. One of them was good and helped me through most of the steps but the chat got disconnected and I was not able to connect with him again. I am copying the same message that I provide to the hostgator reps. Hopefully, someone over here can help. Thanks in advance.

"I have recently acquired this website. www.outdoornutters.com. This is hosted on siteground and uses Joomla interface.I just want to move the site to my hostgator baby plan account and keep the domain with siteground. You see, I have the backup of the entire site to be moved, including MySQL databases. I have used FTP filezilla to get back of the entire site.

Now, To move the site, I was told to add an addon domain. This step is done. Next, I was told to install Joomla. This step is done. Then, I went to "PHP MyAdmin" and imported to SQL file. Then I went to file manager and uploaded the public html folder. Now, I need to know the further steps and instructions to complete the site transfer"

    Original site- www.outdoornutters.com
This is how the site looks now- http://174.121.33.190/~spot122/outdoornutters.com

As you can see the difference in both the sites. So, I know some work is left, but I am not sure what is left apart from pointing the nameservers to hostgator.

    Thks!

While it's true that HostGator is not the best host, it is also true that their support will come through most of the time. My suggestion would be to try chat help one last time and if that doesn't work out, submit a ticket. They will respond promptly I've found.

I also found a couple of useful links doing a simple google search for "how to tranfer a site to HostGator", but I'm sure you've already checked out those. Good luck, super11.

Hostgator moved my site from Bluehost for free... they did all of the work, I just had to give them my login info.

The only difference I've noticed "Gallery" and "Buy & Sell" option shows the 404 error page. Rest of the the website seems fine.
