Hi all,

I have an e-commerce site that is 2 months old that is stuck on page 5 for all keywords.

Page 1 are URLs from high authority sites that have no backlinks to the actual URL (just ranking on authority I guess).

I have more links than these pages and they are mostly from PR pages and domains with unique handwritten content.

The site hasn't moved in about 2 weeks now and I am still building a handful of links each day.

Just looking for a second opinion. I know my domain is only 2 months old but it is more targeted to these certain keywords and have more links now than the page 1 urls. Should I just keep building links and eventually it will start moving again?

I know domain authority counts for a lot these days but the URLs are just extensions from large websites rather than any active SEO work from them.

All opinions appreciated.

Thanks.

2 months is still within sandbox territory

create a corporate blog and post some 500+ word articles about your products/services to enrich the site content and not just be a catalog listing of stuff.

still it's gonna take months, not weeks, to rank an ecommerce site going white hat.

Thanks for the replies.

I forgot to say I done unique descriptions for each product of about 200 words.

I have built a lot of links with naked anchors so don't think that is it but maybe!

Could always do with more content though I guess. Maybe I will start a blog on the site just to fill it with some content.

Page 1 is full of old sites alright even though the URL's ranking haven no links/title tags not optimised.

Starting to wonder have I bitten off more than I can chew here or should I keep at it for another few weeks and see if there is movement.

I know the site is only 2 months old but considering the URL's ranking I thought I would be a bit further ahead than this!

You think I should go more blackhat on it bart? I am not against more blackhat at all tbh..

I was thinking of buying an expired domain and 301 it to see if I could get some authority from it?

If its a Thick site with huge amount of indexed pages check your onpage keyword semantic % to be 1 - 1.5.
Unluckily if you go either way black or White it will take some time now as Google is thinking too much...

I am willing to take a quick look for you! My guess is you have some over optimization going on. Navigations and categories count towards on page KW density..... Common mistake.

Sorry only getting back to this now!

Yes they are PBN links with handwritten content on each site. Some of the links are PR4/5 with most being 1 and 2.

I am starting a blog today just to be sure but I am pretty stumped tbh!

Could be lack of strength in your link profile, but overall I would just give it more time, and attach a blog like Bart suggested.

Yep, exactly my thoughts. The worst mistake with new sites is impatience, trying to force something with more and more backlinks that simply takes time. Many people ruin their ranking potential this way before the site even has a chance to rank.

2 months is not enough to outrank the big ecommerce sites despite the fact that the ranking urls have virtually no backlinks. No mater how many backlinks you build and articles you publish, you won't outrank them with a 2 months old site.

Ya I was probably a bit naive in that aspect as I thought my site is more specific to the niche and with PBN I would out rank a bit easier than I am finding it.

Should I keep building links or let it settle another while. I put a lot of work into this site but will abandon it if it looks like it's going to take months and months of work as I don't have the budget for it. I could leave it for a while and come back to it in the summer and see if I can get it to rank?

Thanks!

Keep on velocity, and get yourself a deasent aged domain with good metrics and 301

should definetly see improvement
