    Hey

I have a site that has been online for a few months now. creating about 80 backlinks etc...

yesterday I found my website included in the top 1000 for that keyword (very competitive keyword - before I learned about keyword research). But today it is not included..

why this? is it cause of google is updating it's index?

IMHO, If you compete in a highly competitive keywords, then what are you doing right now is not enough.

I suggest you to try to get a good ranking with a long tail keyword first, then keep doing backlink to your site.

It will make your site back to get a position in the SERPs.

    Good Luck

Site is still not included in the SERP when I do a search on google.com, but it appear on google.com.au SERP 74, google.dk #61, google.no #2 etc

Now I have another site which has been online for a month which also suddenly is not included in the serp.

Think it's because google is updating it's index and I have been doing some modifications to the site. Not sure how good it is but my sites get top score on the instantposition free seo tool (http://www.instantposition.com/seotest.php). So I quess I have to wait a few days to see if it apear again (have been out of serp for 2 days already). Or maybe my sites are too much seo optimized and google is punishing me cause of that. I don't think so, but I read in a book about optimizing for google that it's not good to have it to much optimizied

I don't think you can optimize your site too much. May be you just need more link juice since you are competing for a highly competitive keyword.
