so i am adding some pages to my website and just wanted to know what you guys think.

do you think it is wise to add a pyramid type link structure to my website?

for example on my index.html page at the bottom as a link i would have my 4 major keywords then when you click on the link it will take you to a page optimized for just that keyword then on the bottom of that page would be some long tailed keyword regarding the main keyword and when one of those links are clicked it will take them to an optimized page for that long tailed keyword.

    it would look like this
MAIN keyword #1 > 2ND MAIN KEYWORD >LONG TAILED KEYWORDS
MAIN keyword #2 > 2ND MAIN KEYWORD >LONG TAILED KEYWORDS
MAIN keyword #3 > 2ND MAIN KEYWORD >LONG TAILED KEYWORDS
MAIN keyword #4 > 2ND MAIN KEYWORD >LONG TAILED KEYWORDS

how long do you think it would take for the keyword juice to get pushed to the home page?

would this help me rank higher ?

Breadcrumb links are good. They help to define your link architecture and it's always advisable to target a limited number of keywords per page. Be sure to get some deeplinks from external sources. So long as these pages contain links back to the home page, you'll be propping up the home page PR as well.
