As W1tty suggested, h1, h2 and h3 can be useful for seo purposes. Going further down to h6 won't be that beneficial especially taking into consideration that at the moment the site only has h1 tags.

If you want to optimize your page, use the h1 thru h3 tags, correctly.

If you are just going to toss a few words into them without using them correctly, don't bother.

Bing webmaster tools will complain if you use more than 1 H1 tag on a page. Matt Cutts has hinted that exploiting H1 text too much on a page is something they look for.

I have run tests on the relative effects of different tags on rankings... basically make a page with a keyword no one uses like Flipjibbyjibby... make a page containing only the keyword in each tag... name the pages with numbers link from a keywordless page to the test pages. submit to google and wait for them to index... then search for your made up word and see how the rank...

They change all the time... Sometimes h4-6 rank higher than h1-3 ... I don't think Google puts much weight into it except as a spam factor. Meaning the data suggests they all get treated the same except when it starts to look like spam.

The ONLY html tag that constantly wins over time is the title tag. Currently HTML5 tags are trending higher. I think the way google sorts tags is Baysian in nature and probably has more to do with what is in google's training set of spam sites than any kind of special treatment for one tag over another (with the exception of title tag which has ranked #1 in the experiment for years) All other tags have moved up and down the list over time.
