    Hey guys,

So I bought a domain about a month ago, and wrote a few unique articles on the site. Ordered a service from BHW and by August 25th ish, I was on the 2nd page of Google for my main keyword. During that time, I was still adding unique content. The site has a total of 14 unique articles.

Anyways, I didn't check my ranking for the site again until today, only to see that I'm not in the top 1000 even. Now, weird thing is, I'm ranking for other long tail keywords, but am only not ranking for my main keyword. The site is still indexed.

I'm aware of the Google Dance and all..but I'm not sure if it's normal for the site to completely disappear from the SERPs.

What do you guys think? I'd be willing to share my site and keyword via PM with a respected member, if you'd like to have a closer look at it.

    Thanks guys!

It sounds completely normal for a one month old site. I've seen them disappear from the top 1000 then pop back into the top 100 somewhere, then climb to the top, taking their time.

If you want me to look at it I can... not sure if I'm a "respected member" or not but nothing about what you've said sounds alarming at all.

I'd prefer not to disclose it in the public, as it may give people a bad impression about the service, whereas there may in fact be nothing wrong with the service. PM me if you'd like to know :)

That's definitely reassuring. Didn't mean to offend anyone BTW with the whole "respected member" thing. Hope I didn't offend you or anyone. But you seem to have been here a while. Since you said this appears to be normal, I'll wait it out another week or two, and if still the same thing, I'll PM you with the keyword and URL. Appreciate it bud!

Google will typically artificially boost a new site's rankings for a while in order to gain various metrics on it such as CTR, bounce rate, etc.

Once that period is up, the site will be put in the position it "should" be in based on it's metrics.

I'd say that's what happened. Another possibility is the backlinks you got from the service you bought got flagged as spam links and are basically giving your site no benefit, hence your site not ranking for the terms in those backlinks.

Hm, the service I ordered though is fairly reputable, and no else has had similar problems. But hey, you could be right. I'll just have to wait it out for another couple weeks.

Google places your site for a while and pushes to backward.

Just keep building decent links to it. I've got a site that I used to use as a whipping boy, trying out various link building services and tactics to see what would work.

Some of the things I tried Google didn't seem to like too well as despite having over 70 good quality links it's still just a PR1. I've got sites with just 1 link from a PR4 site that's a PR3. But the site still gets over 1800 uniques a day from Google.

So even if there's some issue with the links you bought, I wouldn't worry, just keep promoting the site.

Most likely though it's just in the sandbox phase and it's temporary rank boost period expired. It'll bump back up in the coming weeks with good backlinking.

To be in the rankings is great, but what is even better is to stay in the rankings. You need to continue to build links as unique content alone will not bring visitors to your site. Links tell the crawlers about your site and the more high quality you can have pointing to your site the longer you are going to stay in the competition. Once you have the links will the unique content come into play.
