Adding new unique content should help. Have you been deindexed completely or just bumped off the first few pages?

I've had this happen with some niche sites that I use for backlinks. Usually strong content, some solid directories, slower link building, using SEO friendly URLS, and quality targeted content is enough to get it ranking again. If you use the site:www.example.com search in google, do you still appear?
