Hi guys.. Im in need of some quick cash and I have a quick question to ask so I hope you guys can help me.

I created a website reviewing a product that got me 2 $35 commissions from the site. I have since lost the hosting to the site, and all of the work I put into it (around 5 articles or so reviewing a service that I was promoting.)

I still have the domain name, and I was wondering if you guys think that it is possible to make any money from flipping the domain. Or better yet, do you think there is any money to be made in recreating the site (using wordpress)
and flipping the site. The domain is a GODADDY domain, and the domain expires in march.

Thanks in advance for all the help!!

I dont mean to bump this, but I'd REALLY love help on this situation thanks!!!!!

Well it really matters what the domain name is? How old is it? Is there any traffic coming to it? Unless it is a awesome domain name you will make more selling it as a website instead of just a domain name.

To make good money on sitepoint reselling the site you just need to show organic traffic, and some income. Even a dollar per day income with adsense or any other affiliate can bring in a good sale. If you dont have any traffic you might have to wait a while to get some depending on the domain and the site you had up before. If you don't wanna do alot of work you might just wanna sell the domain name. At least you will get some money quickly.

Try selling the domain on DP or eBay and if you make a site sell it on sitepoint or DP.

Hope this helps.

If you have a site that has earned ANYTHING, you can sell it on Sitepoint. You didn't say how quickly you got those 2 sales for $35.00. However, let's assume it happened within a week, which means you would have $280.00 estimated sales per month. Assuming no other costs besides hosting, you could very easily ask 10 times profit, meaning a $2800 asking price for the site. Good luck!!

Well I first bought the domain last march, and I very little promotion of the site.. Just 1 digg and one ezine article. Thats pretty much all of the promotion that I did on the site. I wasnt getting very much traffic... Maybe 20-30 organics per day, and it did take awhile to get those 2 sales. (a few months after i bought the domain) The site is sitenamereviews.org.

Actually I was working on other projects and didnt have much time to put my full efforts into the site. But now that I lost hosting to the site I havent done anything with the domain name.. Just let it sit.

Ive never did any site flipping before, and I know there are lots of flipping experts here, so I just wanted to know if theres a market for this.

My feeling is I should just put up another site on the domain, write a few articles.. Show my traffic stats, and try to flip it.. I hope this works for me, because i need some cash now (doesnt everybody?)

Thanks for the help guys!! Anymore advice/input would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

If you want to flip it I would suggest you somehow get the site back somewhat to how it was before. From reading your post it sounds like you don't have a copy of the articles you wrote.

Maybe the site was indexed in the internet archive and you can get the articles back. Punch in the name of your site and then click take me back.

Code:
http://www.archive.org/web/web.php

Thats exactly what happened.. I dont have copies of the articles I wrote, maybe I should start doing this.. I had NO CLUE whatsoever that you could search archives like this SO THANKS SO MUCH.. Im going to try to find them now!!!

You can totally sell it on SP with previous sales... create a WP site using a premium mag theme, take those 5 articles, write 5 more, submit them to bookmarking sites for indexing and organic, make a nice logo etc.. that baby will sell.

Put the minimum bid at $97 if your BIN is less than $300, between $3-500 put your minimum bid at $147...

Your site should have no problems selling...

I never personally flipped sites since I just end up keeping all the ones I had planned to flip...

The best way to go about it is to set up a site, make sure it is indexed and getting some traffic. Also provide some proof that money can be made.

Sitepoint would be a great place to do the site flipping.
