I've been using this to siphon direct traffic from sites with affiliate programs and it's been working fairly well. I've spent quite a bit of cash on testing out different strategies and domains, but I think this knowledge would be better left to somebody with the ability to analyze and utilize it properly.
What I'm doing is buying Cameroon domains which have the extension "cm" which is important because when somebody hits the "o" too lightly while typing in the "c-o-m" of a website (type-in traffic) they will land on the "cm" version instead, provided that it has been purchased and set up. I was buying the domains at Marcaria. I'm sure you can get them elsewhere too but they were hard to find.
All of the massive sites (top 100 Alexa, for example) have registered the Cameroon version, or at least somebody has. Still, I managed to get a large amount of traffic from a few popular adult sites, and as I mentioned I have been converting small amounts of traffic fairly well by signing up for affiliate programs and then cloaking a redirect to my affiliate link to catch any type-in traffic from people who were about to buy/sign-up.
I personally couldn't make much use of the adult traffic, but it is there. Like I said, for somebody with more knowledge about traffic patterns etc. this would probably present some nice opportunities. I've made use of it the best way I know how and I'd like to see somebody with more experience make better use of it. Enjoy.
