I've already had this feature on desktop for a while, but it’s not been constant. Sometimes there's infinite scrolling and sometimes there isn't.

Well, this is huge news for webmasters, but wait till google sprinkle it with ads, and dozens of google features stolen content from top ranking website.
The devil must be in owe of their actions! Now more ads, so more ppc competition, so higher cpc, lower conversion and google is the only one winning. As for the seo, well, it can't be worse

For the desktop, install the seaquake extension. It would you the position of the results. So you could know which position you are ranking if it's just 1 huge page.
