    Hey Guys,

BHW has been a tremendous help for me so I figured I might as well give back. In summary, you take advantage of the google image url search to find photos that have already been purchased.

    1)Go to fotolia.com.
2)Find the image you want and copy the image location.
3)Go to images.google.com - > click on camera icon - > drop in the photo URL - > click on "search by image".
    4)Add this string into the URL: -site:fotolia.com -site:shutterstock.com -site:dreamstime.com -site:123rf.com
Basically, we're trying to block the stock photography sites from showing up. You can always add others.
    5)Click on ?Visually similar images?.
6)If you need larger sizes, click on search tools > images size > xxx.
7)You should now see results of the same stock photo (or close) without the watermarks. The majority of stock photos are hosted, purchased and used on multiple sites so there is no way one of these sites can come after you.

    4)Add this string into the URL: -site:fotolia.com -site:shutterstock.com -site:dreamstime.com -site:123rf.com

At what point do you add this string, i added it to the end of the url and got nothing.

Method worked though without doing that for an image i tried.

With so many websites selling the same images... do you think there is seriously no way to get caught? Of course if you get lots of attention, someone might decide to check on you, but still ???

How can they? I mean, who can tell who purchased what? Every site uses the same stock photos. It would be EXTREMELY hard for them to find out and very vindicative for them to go after you. I've done this for years without a problem.

I only add it after the search and it really only just blocks out sites you don't want to see. You have the option of not using it.

I get all my images from flickr and I'm able to download even the ones whose authors have disabled downloading for. Great share for those looking for places to get images from.

Do you seriously believe that stock sites don't know who has licensed their images?

There have been some very large settlements recently over copyright breeches.

I think this deserves a bump, pretty nice method. I think the goal here is to find stock photos that are already being used a lot and turn up 100+ downloads on google. The sites really have no way of knowing if you are one of the people that bought the image from them or not (assuming at least that you are using WHOIS privacy).

If you try to steal an image that only has 1 or 2 people using it then you'll probably increase the likelihood of getting busted.

Edit - you can actually sort your searches by # of downloads :)
