So just how hard 1&1 makes it to update name servers for multiple domains has always made me hate them...

What is really making me hate them now is I have like 5 domains I plan on letting expire but want to suck as much juice out of now as I can and they have disabled my ability to update the nameservers because the domains are set not to renew.. but liek they are still mine now right?

    Who can I transfer to?

    I want free privacy
I want the ability to update the nameservers on multiple domains at once.
I want my reigstra to look out for my interests and not give me an uneccesary hard time when someone whines to them about something dumb.

    Any suggestions?

1&1 is the worst choice anyone can make. Go with NameCheap if you are looking for a reliable company!

i've been with key-systems.net for quite a long time now since i know one guy from this registrar. its the top11 company worldwide in registered domains. they have several sub-companies: one for big resellers and one for normal customers. check out http://domaindiscount24.com/?js=1&language=en its really worth it.

you can set whois info on your own. no stupid privacy protected domains needed anymore. isnt that nice?

Must agree I am sick of 1&1 also. They do not do anything easily. It is simply a pain. I will also be transferring the domains I have wiht them as well. Am just waiting for Namecheap to bring out the special again that they had last year of transfers for about 5 or 6 dollars with 1 year extension. Sure hope they run that special again as I have nearly 100 with 1&1. Never again. Just too hard and no simple C-Panel. Eveything done the hard way. Great support but its not enough.

Namecheap like others have said. Been with them for years, and many more to come.

i actually think their support sucks too.

My latest problem with them is I have 5 domains set to expire but not for like months.. in the mean time they are still mine right? I put in a request 2 days ago for them to change the DNS on those 5 domains and still not changed. They do everything they cna to frustrate their customers. Between me and you they are set to lose 150 registration fees.. the sad thing is they won't care until they lose 100,000+ than they will make some changes.

I hope namecheap does run that special again if they do i'll swap in a heartbeat!

I would suggest go with name.com if you want a user friendly experience with pretty good support.

Go for Namecheap. You'll hardly find people complaining about them.

NameCheap is the one to go for!

And do not think of GoDaddy!!! Maybe they are a bit better than your present registrar, but that bit would be microscopic.

They will help you out, not suck you dry and harrass you over complaints.

My dns settings are still not updated. 1&1 has to be the worst domain company ever.

That's another sad example of how bad they are. DNS propagation should not take that long. 24 hours *at most*.

It's not about propagation. When you tell them that a domain you have should expire at the end of the current term they make it so you can not update the DNS yourself from the control panel. You have to wait for them to get around and do it for you after putting in a request with their tech support people. It's another of their tactics to try and keep you as a customer. What they don't understand is that it just guarantees my exit.
