Should you optimize "category page" for main keyword?

If you're doing a silo site, completely discarding the use of category and tags, and only using pages with a hierarchy structure, and lets say you have a skincare site,

And on the home page in the menu bar you have acne | anti aging | makeup

    ----------------------

And lets say by clicking on "acne" in the menu bar takes you to a category page with:

    acne treatments
    -----------------
    what causes acne
    --------------------------
    acne prevention
    --------------------------
    etc...
    -----------------------

Should you also make that category page into a content page where you are targeting the main, most broad keyword "acne"? (remember this is just an example, I wouldn't ever try to rank for "acne")

Is this the way you should do it?

why u bump thread 3 times in half a day

but yes. strongest page internally should target main kw. no matter category or not. they do not have to be category.

    I'm using this structure here:

    ---------------------------------------------

In the orange block where it says "shaving" that would be a category page, but should I target the keyword "shaving" on that category page, OR just in a deeper level article?

you can target what you want. in the diagram u showed categories would kick more than articles.
