We dont have a targeted KW in our website's main URL.

What should we do for the best on-site optimisation?

Should we make URL like *http://ourwebsite.com/targetedKW* and then make a redirect to homepage? We want people to land on our homepage only.

    thanks

To be honest, if you setup that URL and then automatically redirect it to your homepage, it is not going to carry any real weight as Google won't have ranked it well to begin with.

Is the targeted keyword a product name or something? I'm assuming you've at least got the desired KW in your title tags etc and the relevant content around that keyword on the homepage?

It's just common word like *good thoughts"

I am going to put it to the title and meta description yeah. And on the homepage.

Wondering - is having URL with KW really so important? I see all TOP10 websites have it

You should try a url shortener and create a link like bit.ly/yourkw and promote your homepage with this link. This is offsite optimization but it will help you for sure.

I think this will help google to see what are you targeting in that homepage.

Having the KW in the URL is a factor for SEO, yes, however not the be all and end all factor.
