be it a spammy or legit website we need a code of Ethics not to out their site here, maybe a warning will deter it? I know its a thin line but I feel we should debate this subject to mods approval.

What would the definition of "outting someone's" site be tho?

If someone were to find a site on ahrerfs that is ranking abnormally, and if they start a discussion about it here, would that be called "outting"?

I agree that people shouldn't out websites of people here. But if you get a warning for just discussing about other sites, that would be stupid imo.

Agree with Jeepy's point.

It's a shit move really, no different to outing someones PBN network.

OP, if I ever find out what sites you own, I would not out them, BUT, if you tell me what sites you own first since I have no idea if a site is owned by you and can not be held responsible if I link a site of yours or someone else since I have no idea of who owns it.

This is a weird proposal, since it suggests punishments for outing a site I have no idea of who owns it. Sure, if I knew who owns it, it would be bad behavior to out it. So for your safety, send me a pm to ALL your sites, so I don´t out them.

I do not know how feasible this would be as to managing things as lots of people share lots of sites here with an altruistic purpose and when they are looking for help as well.

We have a meeting tomorrow and I'll bring this up there and if anyone has other thoughts as to this suggestion please post them below.

An automated post takedown mechanism which is triggered when a certain url is posted might be more useful here than awarding warnings.

People who fear of their site getting outed here can submit their domain name into a database maintained by the mods. New posts can then be queried for the presence of those domains and simply get redacted.

All of this can be automated. I don't know how customisable Xenoforo is to add such a feature but this can be significant work nevertheless.

Maybe you can make this an exclusive feature available only to Jr VIPs, or even sell a seperate subscription for those who want it :p

OP, if you fear your site getting outed. Set up a google alert for mentions of your domain name here. Google indexes new posts of this site very quickly. You can then report a post containing your post and ask a mod to redact your domain.

What is your logic here? What goal are you trying to accomplish? What counts as outing a site?

Imagine, SEO forum, you mention a site because you are interested in how they get the rankings/design/UX/ etc. And you get a warning. This forum is dead already except for Buy/Sales threads, don't make it more dead.

I don't know if it's ethical or not. I'd never do it personally but I don't blame others who choose to do it. This is a Blackhat forum. That is what blackhatters do. All the PAA craze on BHW lately is because of threads outing websites for people to reverse engineer, try and achieve the results themselves.
Besides, I don't think it's going to make a difference, people are going to find such websites sooner or later anyway.

This is an IM forum, so nopes. If you are trying not to get caught, make sure you are keeping your site a secret. Sometimes, it’s impossible to find a method out without an example. I think knowledge should be shared. Atleast what I do, we believe in sharing. If your site is too sensitive to share, u probably are too weak.

This is hard to implement. Like is someone asks which AI writer is best. Someone can even promote his own new tool saying that he like it. How will it be determined that he is genuinely speaking good about it or he is doing self promotion. Same way I think some of the mentions in crypto sections for new coins or projects are also promotions. But there is very thin line between promotion and real information sharing.

I think the way it should be done is, if a member's site is posted and the owner finds it, they should report to the admins/moderators who would then remove the links of such site.

This is what I had in mind has always been done.

There were quite a few useful threads in here where BHW members publicly analyzed some successful websites. So, no.

I think it's not bad.

Don’t forget the lounge, the most active part of the forum (thanks to @Willyfish) :D

Bhw really owe me so much for all these threads, all the people come here to learn IM and end up laughing their ass off because of fishposts.

Yes I am proud
