Seriously guys? terrible answers.
@Mr Positive the answer isn't black or white. I am in a niche where videos are the preferred medium, there are several niches like this one and if google is ranking videos for a keyword then in most cases it is because people prefer videos when searching for that term (search intent).
If you want to give it a shot, then see if anyone else has written an article on that keyword, and if the article is ranking below the videos then you already have your answer. I have seen videos outperform big authority sites because of the search intent for specific terms so it's all about what the user wants to see.
Finally, just because there are videos ranking it doesn't mean you always have to beat them. There are people like me who don't like watching videos and prefer articles instead. The way I look at this is, if the search term has a decent number of searches then I will write about it. Even if my article ranks below the videos I know that some people will scroll down and read simply because that is what they prefer (not everyone likes watching videos).
If you do further analysis in your niche, you will start seeing queries where some of them will have articles above the videos, and others below. So use your best judgment and tackle keywords with low search volumes where articles are showing above the videos, and go for keywords with higher search volumes where articles are below the videos (provided that the keywords aren't as competitive and you can compete with sites who have already written content for those keywords).
You will also come across keywords where there aren't any articles (only videos) I would leave those for last. Once you have enough authority and topical relevancy you can go ahead and write for those as well and see where things settle.
I hope that makes sense.
