I am having a bit of a dilemma atm. I recently saw that a small company was looking for someone to do SEO for their sites. They haven't said how much they are going to offer and within what timeframe they want it done.

I'm not sure if they know much at all about SEO since all they said was that they wanted to get more organic traffic and that's it. I asked for which keywords they were targetting etc. but they replied with: what do you suggest?

The last part is that the pages are in Swedish and if I let's say ordered a service on BHW to do the actual job for me would it still work since I'm aiming to rank on the Swedish google page.

I guess it would work. Doesn't matter where your trying to rank. As long as the content targets that region.

Guess you need to submit some sort of proposal, and work out yourself what you would charge for the job.

    Yes it will work.

Does there domain have a swedish tld? ( if there is one.. lol )

As far as the job itself, don't make yourself look to be a minimum wage worker.

A Link Builder should make $3,000 a month minimum if they are to be working full time for a company. ( In the US )

Don't let them low ball you. Ask for more.

Maybe it's just me.. But who knows.. they might steal some of your keyword ideas, that's why they ask for your suggestions.. :D

Something that the knowledgeable SEO people don't understand, is the others Don't understand your steps to ranking, or what ranking even is. By not knowing this, you are showing that you aren't capable of performing or have never worked for someone else before. When someone asks me "What keywords are you going after" it means they aren't willing to figure out which are the best keywords to go after themselves and they want tasks more laid out to them and SEO is a creative job, laying out tasks shouldn't be needed.

First, detail the steps you would use and make it interactive. Ask, "Rank your products on a level of 1-3, 3 being the highest priority in which you want me to spend the most amount of time focusing on getting the product to a large audience." Just go about how you would rank something, and say give them a conservative number on the amount of traffic they should expect in 2 months, 3 months, 4, 5, and 6.

Ask what their marketing budget is each month, ask about commission, ask about your salary.

Yeah this is what I am afraid of. I know this is an really good oppurtunity. Should I maybe ask them how much search traffic they get now and see which keywords they get traffic from?

Anyways I will keep updating this thread when I get anything new.
