    Hi,

I run a cleaning company, and I am trying to expand into pest control services.

It usually takes me about 3 months to make a good looking custom site. (Wireframe -> Design -> Revisions - > Coding), but just 3 days to throw together a shitty looking template based site off wix / webflow.

My question is whether it is a good idea to throw together a shitty site with some content now and start SEO on that, while building the well designed custom site, and then switch out the old site later. This way I don't sit out 3 months building the site and not gaining any rankings.

The url, title, description, h1 would probably be the same. Content should be similar, but page layout and structure would change quite a bit.

Will I lose my rankings that I gained with the shitty version of the site, or will those carry over once I launch my redesigned site?

Why not do the homepage, the about us and the contact us pages to start with?

Get the homepage onpage seo done, let the site get indexed.

If you keep the URL structure after you website modifications and the page contents as they were you should not suffer from any SEO changes.

Sure do the on-page basics (titltes, h1 h2 h3..., link structure) and be sure everything is indexing, then change whatever you need but this gonna stay the same, will be better the more time you're in google if you want to start a link building campaign afterwards

Most of my sites are one page scroll downs to minimize funnel loss from having to click around. Also it is a very simple service so there aren't a lot of product pages so it is pretty much just the home page. Good idea though, would definitely do it if it was a more product heavy page

I can keep title, description, url link, h1, h2s the same, I can keep content largely similar. However the entire site structure (number of sections, div tags, css) will be very different since it would be completely rebuilt on wordpress instead of wix.

    Does site structure changes matter?

If you start with a good foundation right now, it should set you up for success in the future. The sooner you start the better.

I'd start with a CMS that lets you do better technical SEO. Get some good content on there that you can move over/repurpose for the redesign. Have a contact us page with NAP will help for local SEO if you're registering your Google My Business listing.

Structure is irrelevant. As long as your content stays along the same niche you shouldn't have a problem. Keep some content about your cleaning services and expand with the Pest Control content.

Once you're done with your homepage you can start with your SEO. I think it's ok to continue or start with your SEO if you're just changing the site structure of your website.

Wordpress is my favorite CMS by far. Make your site technically sound with All In One SEO or the Yoast SEO plugin. Use the Visual Composer plugin if you want to get fancy with your pages.
