I have about 4 hours a day of "Free Time" - Tired of Call Of Duty and Dragon Age.

Was thinking of starting to play online poker (for $ of course)

    Any advice?

Do, or Don't. Not sure what kind of advices you're looking for.
A lot of people's making a living out of it. But if you just start for banking out if it, you'll most likely fail is it requires some interest as well.
Read a book or two on the subject before you start if you prefer.

What's the advice you are looking for here? If you think you have the skills and make some money out of it, why not? It's definitely better than playing video games. If you are thinking about making money, you should definitely put some time into it, read some books and stuff that can help you make money. Good luck!

4 hours per day on Online Poker at the $0.50/$1 tables will cost you a fortune if you don't know what your doing.

Not to mention the headaches, tilts and bad luck through the way....

    Hi,

Poker can be an exciting and at times a very frustrating game.

As mentioned by in earlier reply. You could lose a lot of money, if you don't know what you're doing. And will probably spend quite a bit of money learning how to play poker effectively.

I suggest you take some online courses (some of these are free) as well as studying up-to-date books. And only play in the low stakes games to begin with, if you decide to go ahead.

Many years ago I played poker for a living online. The money was good for a while, but I actually regret all the time I put into learning poker, and playing it at the tables. I didn't learn any skills that are useful to me now, and I wasn't building anything for the future. My advice is to put that time into building a business online.

Poker quickly becomes a grind when you're doing it to try and make money.

If you're just doing it for fun, that's fine, but you probably won't feel like doing it for 4 hrs a day for very long.

I play poker. It is hard to learn since it is really saturated. I play live now since it is way easier, but there is still profit online just as well. It isn't easy to learn though. It takes a lot of time.
