I have two keyword domains in mind that are available. One of the keywords get 27, 100 searches per month and has 66,200 pages competing. The other keyword has 2,900 searches per month while it only has 5160 competing pages. Which domiain do i register, the one with more searches and more competition or the one with less searches and less competition?

The keyword with less searches is a little more specific but both could still be used. I'm using them for a review site in a nice, cushy, profitable sub-niche that doesn't have too much competition. Any advice?

    Thanks

IMO, whatever will get you more money is what you should do.

It sounds like the smaller niche with less competition will net you more traffic...but you need to do all the analysis and move forward from there.

I always try to use the domains with the least competition, if they get searches of course. Just my 2 cents.

Face facts... 2,900 searches per month really means about 3 uniques per day.
27k per month will probably bring in 20-30 uniques per day.

All the keyword tools lie regarding search volume.
SEO book says one thing while MS says something different, MNF is also pulling numbers out that are now different to google keyword tool.

    Its all bolloks!

I have an exact match domain name that has 278k exact searches per month... ok im not on page 1 with it, only in yahoo but still im sure it should bring in more that 1 direct type in per day?!

I might just use the one with more searches and competition as a redirection to the more specific one. Focus on the lesser competition one till i get in position one or two and then promote for the other keyword domain. Sound good?

Theoretically if i got in first place then i should get about 49% of the people clicking through which means around 440 click throughs per day if those traffic stats are right. The second would bring about 49 click throughs per day, hardly enough to make bank, alot more keywords would be necessary.

I would go with the higher volume keyword. The analysis is as follows: Assuming you could actually capture all the 2,900 searches per month (which you won't), that level of traffic is going to translate down to a much lower actual conversion rate, which might be something like 1/100th of the search volume or about 29/month which is roughly 1 conversion a day. One conversion a day is not much money in the bank. With the more active keyword with 27,100 searches per month at 1% you get 271 conversions which is 9 conversion a day instead of 1.

66,200 completing pages really isn't that bad. I would still call that low competition by my standards.

How do i assess the accuracy of the info given by things such as google adwords tool and market samurai?

I have 3 domains all with under 100,000 seo competition and 2 with over 1000 searches a day and the 3rd with over 2000 per day. How do i know i can trust this info market samurai gave me?
