As per title, should I reply to admins from forums that I wish to put a backlink on?

I registered for a bunch of forums that required an admin to verify my account lately, and one of the admins replied:

What is your connection with us?

Obviously, I have no connection with them. Should I just ignore the email or should I reply with honesty?

I was wondering if any actions will be taken that will get me in trouble.

    OK, I'll ignore him. Thanks!

You can't get in any trouble. Just ignore the email and move on as suggested.
