    Hey bloggers,

I was wondering whether I should register a new domain for my soon to be authority blog on a niche.

Currently the websites name is (niche)online.net, but I was wondering whether I should register a new name as a (niche)land.com? For branding reasons.

I was also thinking of this because I fear it is slapped with a penalty. Since it is not ranking for any keywords not even in the top 100 after some promotion.

Another question I had was that can I just move the whole site and paste it under my new domain? And just 301 the old domain to the new one? Will there be any serp complications?

I would suggest you to buy a .org domain.. I personally tested it that .org sites are quite good and easy to rank somehow.

I am not sure since I haven't tested this, but I was just thinking whether I should register (niche)land.com for branding reasons?

Sure, if you think it's received a penalty it's good to start fresh but make sure first. Have you got any PR on your current site?

It's not an authority site yet, may not be an authority by the year end or so; honestly the task is not as simple as one thinks, so what's the fear? Buy your own whatever extension domain, and shift the entire content there. Put a message on your existing blog that the site has moved to a better place {new-link}... Then work out your new SEO strategy.

i would honestly go with the (niche)land.com simply because as a consumer, more people trust .com and more people will search or type .com. U could always set ur .net to redirect to ur .com or visa versa

Better solution is to buy .com (much better for SEO purposes ) and branding of course.
301 redirect its a good solution when you do it with a good or strong website , no need if you dont have to earn something for the old .net.

You should try (niche)land.com or .org domain . It looks more professional . Easier to rank !

Not sure about .org, but .com is usually the best bet.
