Hello BHW members,

This is my longest written thread
I have something on my mind lately, which i hope you fellow BHW members can help me or advice me on your experience.

I am a student. I know there are many students here. Glad to know there are people like me.

My problem now that i am facing is, i feel like quitting university after just one semester. I am on sem break now.

I am from ASIA (where i am is a secret lol) age 20, currently studying in a local university far away from home. I live in campus. Where 1mb internet is shared with 3 people.

I have been in internet marketing for 1 year now. And i basically stopped for half a year since i entered university. Perhaps because i've friends who download things and basically the speed is slow like hell if i compare to my home. I started back recently when i came back from Uni since i don't plan to work for other people AGAIN.

Why i want to quit university is because i don't like the life there.
Practically no book stores there,
no shopping complex (only 1 which where u get your basic stuff)

and to tell you how slow and relaxing that place is, McDonalds just opened there hahaha..

So basically you know how slow that place is.

I want to quit university. Currently making nearly the same as my dad and my other relatives. They work from 8am to 8pm running my dad's business.

WHY i want to quit... i don't plan to work for other people. I used to part time. But i know its not the life that i will ever want.

I plan to be a full time internet marketer for life. Its something i will never give up. So basically if i study and get a degree (finishing in 2 and a half years time) i will still be in internet marketing.

MY DAD will KILL me if he knows that i want to quit. Do you think i should tell him? Or do you think i should continue to study?

About my dad. He is like is robert kiyosaki's poor dad mind.

Life = study hard ---> get into local uni --> get a degree --> graduate
--> get a job --> build a family

I don't want that life....

Quit. Don't do what you don't like.Follow your dreams.

Do both. Education is priceless, you don't want to be another dumb rich guy. I'm sure you'll reap the benefits later in your life.

My advice is to stay in school and earn your degree while continuing your IM business. At least if you have the degree, you have many more options available to you in the coming years. For that matter, you might want the life you mentioned above. Your only 20 so you never know what the future holds.

I don't know what you are studying in university, but make it something relevant to your future IM business. Something in the area of marketing or programming?

i would say, quit and make a fortune ;)
but education is fairly important for your personality, if you think you are smart enough and know how to keep the $$ that you earned and how to invest it and basic accounting and as you stated that you are from asia so your english must be really good and all that. if you have this then go ahead and quit and even move out!

typical/avg mindset of people are...
how to earn money!! ....when they start earning.
how to keep it!@?>$ ....it keeps slipin away.
and till you find the answers you are some middle-age guy with a wife and 2 kids and don't know what the hell happened ;P

Thank you guys for the reply.

I am currently taking marketing in university. Never like studying lol..
Thats why i have thoughts of quitting.

Although I don't know why my future holds, i know i will never work for someone else.
and what supported this thoughts of quitting was when i read

Bill Gates quit because he wanted to concentrate on microsoft
Micheal Dell, Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison all don't hold a degree. That's why i really felt like just quitting.

I used to hate school but i went back to university at the age of 47 got a diploma, and learned a hell of a lot , stick with it you will profit from it later, good education means good manners as well , it will surely help you in your later life, especially if you are doing marketing

Try thinking out the box. Stay on campus, build personal relations with other people, meet girls and party a lot. On spare time do your black hat work. Change your priorities toward your dreams, get friends, team with your friends. Perhaps you would get your degree 2 or 3 years later than the others, but you'll be enjoying life, keeping a good relation with your family, and partying a lot. That's how I get an Economy degree.

If i am not mistaken, even Richard Branson don't own a degree.
Most of the people like
Steve Jobs, Micheal dell all quit after a while to concentrate on building their empire.
So whats on my mind is.. should i build my own empire?

I really appreciate all of you guys for reply. Thank you.
I will decide before Christmas :)
Thank you once again. Indeed i will put everyone's perspective into mind and decide.

Well its your life not your dads, but if he paid for your UNI i think hell be little pissed , i dont know tho how the payment structure goes or so :)

But i must say im with ya no fucking way im gonna do next 50 years 8h / d come home make food and go sleep :P (ofcourse some HC gaming included)

Remember choice is urz

I think you should stay in school as well. Couldn't you just get a wireless card to speed up your internet. Don't let a silly thing like that get in your way. I was in your same situation a little over 10 years ago. I had started my own business when I was 16 selling car audio systems and installing them. After high school I went to college...mostly to play basketball. Since I was making pretty good money at my business I talked myself into leaving school. The real reason I regret not staying in school is because I miss playing ball. The education that you will get is good but the relationships you build will last forever.

Just stay in school, make a ton of cash, bang a lot of hot chicks and have a blast.

Good Luck

P.s. You should probably tell you father how you feel now. No reason prolonging it. Just be honest with him and tell him your heart is into doing your own marketing thing. I think he will respect you for that.

Steve Jobs meet his partner on campus. If you quit University you'll be a boss, an employer, or employee, without friends. Even Kiyosaki has friends.

Well, my fellow Melayu friend. :D

I suggest you to keep your education. What you can get from your college :
1. Colleague
2. Friends
3. Clients
4. Workers for your empire
5. Stupid lamer to buy your product
6. Education

Education is very important my friend. No matter who Steve Jobs, Michael Dell, Richard Branson, I don't know their, and they have lived many years ago (I believe), when education is very expensive and not really important.

What I can say is, keep your education, expand your networking, and start build your little empire since now. :)

How long do you've to go on to get your degree? If it's only 1 year, get through with it. Your dad won't be mad and you can say you've a degree. However that's not needed to have a nice live (imho), if you're convinced to make money online then I'd say go for it. And if it fails for some reason, you can atleast tell yourself that you tried.

(BTW: I'm kinda in the same position as you, making more money than my parents combined, more than enough not to have financial worries later on. They also want me to continue my studies, however in my country it's required to go to school to the age of 21 if you don't get a degree, so I don't have that much of a choice :p)

you are on the right track, life is SHORT...dont waste it doin things that you have no interest it....earn fast and party like a bitch.

I am paying for my own UNI fee's,
Applied loan and currently living off my loan and making cash online lol..

Do some simple math - can you actually afford to completely pay your own way on life already (do you MAKE AN ACTUAL LIVING ONLINE)? Or do you make a little online, but because you get rent, food, bills etc paid for you by your family becuase you are at Uni it just seems like an easy thing to do.

To be honest I quit Uni after 2 years, but the last year of that I never attended a class - even though I managed to pass everything. But when I did quit my dad stopped paying for ANYTHING, which is while I stayed that extra year until I had enough cash to bankroll my own life.

Hey there, I still got 2 and a half years more to go before i finish and graduate.
Thank you

I think you should continue to pursue your education. The fact that your area of studies have some level of relevance to your internet career tells me the right choice is to stay in school.

Just use some of the money you are earning from IM to buy the things you will need to add to your comfort... making your campus experience a lot me comfortable.
