Not sure weahter to do it or not for fear of looking spammy?

I figure that on the pins where I do have my own pins of products from my site then the pic links back there anyhow.

    Thoughts?

You can insert your link into the description of your own pin at Pinterest. There is no problem.

If you are promoting aff link, create a landing page first.

What reactions have you received so far from other Pinterest users? Do they object to your including a link in the description? Have any of your pins been reported where you have included a link? Finding out the answer to these questions will guide you to the right answer for your situation.

In my opinion if the pin itself links back to your site, you should not put a link to your site on the pin description, for me it would look a bit spammy and I would avoid copying the link and pasting it on a browser.

I newer got falgget for link in description usage.
So, as himanuzo say, for the affiliation links the landing page is a must.
First for conversion rate (it's really better and you can manipulate woman's mind to induce they to buy the product).
Second Pinterest can flag you as spammer, it's really easy to get banned with a lot of direct affiliate links.
