We all know that separate ips are better if we're running a large network of sites. I've taken pains to keep my sites separate, hosted in different places, and under different names. So to ask an obvious question I'm assuming I shouldn't then add them all to my webmaster tools because this will be tantamount to telling google in person that I own all these sites in the same niche. Can anyone shed light on this?

just make a name per website and upload one site per name (all diff ip obviously)

This is what i do..That and i only upload a sitemap..nothing else. Then fwrd all your emails so in-case google "takes action" you know something has happend. there should be no need to re log back into your webmasters acct after you set up the sitemap
