    Hi there,

In the past I used to do a keywords research and to monitor only the one which are interesting (search volume, competition, etc.).
But in my new company, I've been ask to monitor a list of more than 500 keywords, 50% have no volume.
Do you think I should cut them off from my ranks monitoring?

    Thanks

Yeah, If those keywords are related to the site. There is nothing wrong in monitoring all keyword. It will give a clear idea for the next strategies.

Thanks guys, so I have 2 different views here. Sometimes keywords with no volume (well it's more no-data) can bring qualified visits. But the problem is that all these keywords affects the visibility metrics.

Don't cut them off your list i.e. don't ignore them straight forward but keep checking them in 3-5 days interval. You never know what keyword(s) might index if you are doing SEO for them. So you change your SEO strategy accordingly.

    Good luck.

If they have no volume it sounds like an easy way to rank them and show your client you're making great progress.

It partly depends on what tool you're using and the limitations on the subscription plan.

If you're only able to track 500 keywords, then ditch those with zero volume and free up some space for new keywords.

Well...as each website should have google search console implemented, tracking every keyword through an external tool makes utterly no sense and just creates a lot of noise.

The basic idea behind keyword tracking is tracking your SEO efforts. For that to make sense you need a clear target. Like bringing keyword X to #1 in order to increase affiliate sales up to Y.

If you just want to track general SEO efforts or traffic, you might as well use search console and google anylatics. You will not gain any other insights ;-)

I don't think you need to track all zero volume keywords.

Don't cut off your ranks monitoring, you should look weekly once your ranks monitoring keywords and change some SEO style monthly once as your rankings based :)
